Prime minister Alexis Tsipras is speaking now at a meeting in the Ministry of Education- repeating that Europe’s leaders are the only people who can deliver a solid agreement.
Tsipras remained optimist that the two sides would eventually reach an agreement.
“I believe European leaders will respect our proposals” the PM said.
Here are the highlights of what he said at a public meeting on the aftermath of this year's state exams:
- negotiations are tough, we are determined, we are negotiating with a strategy in difficult conditions
- Greece has specific, realistic proposals, we have already made concessions
- Greece submitted a “comprehensive proposal” for agreement to lenders on Monday night
- decision on agreement rests on political leaders in Europe
- the Greek government opts for a final solution and not a short term agreement
- the Greek government was elected by the people to end austerity measures and subjugation.
- the Greek crisis is not only a Greek issue but a European and global one
- an agreement will give an end to the rift within Europe
- we hope through our affords solidarity will prevail in Europe.
