Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras appeared optimistic over reaching an agreement with Greece's foreign creditors.
“There are no further obstacles in reaching a solution. It is more than evident that the Greek government is doing its best in order to reach a honest and mutually beneficial agreement with our partners” said Greek Prime Minister Tsipras on today's speech in the Parliament.
“Some are ready to accuse us that the measures we are about to take deviate from the promises that we gave to the Greek people before getting elected. I think that if Europe shows the same political will that exists on our part, reaching a solution will not be difficult” the Greek Prime Minister added.
He also stressed that “it is a mater of political will to defend the principle of democracy, as a supreme shared value among all European states. A lack of political will might turn against us. Europe cannot survive with less democracy and it will be a crime to kill democracy in its birthplace”.
