"The government is moving rapidly and decisively to unfold the overall plan for prosperity that it has prepared," government spokesperson Yiannis Economou said on Thursday.
"The economic advantage is being transformed into a horizontal social gain," he stressed.
He referred to the government's determination to support households and businesses in the face of the international energy crisis.
Regarding unemployment, he said that "the government is proceeding on the basis that work is a key foundation for people to prosper," and analysed Eurostat data showing that unemployment in Greece had decreased in December 2021, dropping to 12.7 pct from 17.3 pct in the summer of 2019, while adding that "this was not accidental".
He stressed that for the first time in 10 years, the number of employees in Greece has exceeded 4 million and listed a number of reasons that helped boost employment even during the pandemic, with special reference to attracting investments.
As for the vaccinations, he said: "We have exceeded 19,460,000 vaccinations and more than 7,770,000 of our fellow citizens have been vaccinated with at least one dose, which corresponds to 74 pct in the general population and 83.8 pct in the adult population."
