The Greek Foreign Ministry expresses its deep sorrow over the death of two Greek expatriates and the serious injury of two others in the village of Granitna in Eastern Ukraine.
"We also convey our sincere condolences to the families of the victims, as well as our wishes for a speedy recovery of the injured," the foreign ministry's announcement said.
"According to the available evidence, those responsible for the double homicide are three soldiers of the Ukrainian army, who argued with the Greeks over a trivial cause."
Greek Foreign Minister Nikos Dendias has asked to speak on the phone with his Ukrainian counterpart Dmytro Kuleba in order to again point out the need to protect the Greek community in Ukraine.
