A recent EasyJet flight from Corfu to London Gatwick was forced to divert to Rome after experiencing severe turbulence, resulting in injuries to two cabin crew members.

This incident is the latest in a series of turbulence-related disruptions, raising concerns about the safety of air travel amid increasingly unpredictable weather conditions.

Despite the seatbelt signs being illuminated, the intensity of the turbulence caused injuries to the crew. EasyJet stated that the aircraft itself sustained no damage, and the captain made the decision to divert to Rome to ensure the injured crew received immediate medical attention.

The Italian aviation safety authority, ANSV, has classified the event as an accident and launched a safety investigation.

The incident serves as a stark reminder of the challenges posed by turbulent weather conditions, even when passengers and crew are adhering to safety protocols.

Southern Italy has been experiencing severe storms this week, highlighting the impact of climate change on air travel safety.

Earlier in the week, the vessel Bayesian sank off Sicily after being struck by a waterspout, further underscoring the dangers posed by unpredictable weather patterns.
