Tourism Minister Olga Kefalogianni in an interview with the Athens-Macedonian News Agency, expressed her belief that tourism revenues are expected to exceed 20 billion euros in 2024.
She points out that overall for 2024, Greek tourism not only maintained its momentum but also further strengthened it, achieving historically high performance in the first five months of the year, as well as in September and October. "We expect 2024 to close as the new record year for Greek tourism," Kefalogianni underlines. For 2025, she points out that the first signals are positive.
Regarding the new bill of the Ministry of Tourism and the basic regulations for short-term rentals included in it, she stressed that a framework of minimum operational and safety standards is established for the first time.
She also referred to the classification system for hotels based on their environmental performance, noting that the bill establishes a globally innovative classification system for main tourist accommodation.
