A severe weather warning has been issued for parts of central and northern Greece as Storm "Alexander" approaches.
Thessaly, Evia, Fthiotida, and the Sporades are expected to be hit hardest, with heavy rainfall, thunderstorms, hail, strong winds, and a significant drop in temperature forecast.
The 112 emergency alert system has been activated, urging residents to avoid unnecessary travel and follow authorities' instructions.
The fierce front is expected to last for approximately 30 hours, beginning Friday night and continuing through midday Saturday.
Eastern Thessaly (Larissa and Magnesia), the Sporades, central and northern Evia, and parts of Fthiotida and Boeotia are expected to experience the most intense conditions. The eastern Aegean islands and the Dodecanese will also be affected by storms, while rain is expected in the Cyclades and western Crete.
Strong northeasterly winds of up to 9 Beaufort will batter the northeastern Aegean from Friday night through Saturday, with similarly strong winds in the central Aegean starting Saturday afternoon.
Authorities are urging residents in the affected areas to remain vigilant, minimize travel, and stay informed about weather updates.
Emergency services are on high alert to respond to any incidents caused by the storm.
