The weather will deteriorate on Monday and Tuesday, according to the forecast of the National Meteorological Service.
Locally heavy rain and thunderstorms are expected, mainly in the sea and coastal areas. Winds will blow locally gusty in the sea, while snowfall is expected in the mountains and occasionally in semi-mountainous areas of central and northern Greece, mainly in the northwest.
More specifically, on Monday, heavy rains and, in coastal areas, thunderstorms are expected in the northern Ionian Sea, Epirus, western Sterea, the remaining areas of the Ionian Sea, and the western Peloponnese. In the evening, from the northwest, the phenomena will weaken.
Similar phenomena will occur in the afternoon in eastern Macedonia, Thrace, the East Aegean islands, the Dodecanese, and Crete. From midday on Tuesday, the phenomena will be limited in the Dodecanese and will weaken.
Also on Monday, gusty south-southwest winds will blow locally in the Ionian Sea and after noon locally in the Aegean Sea.
Snowfall will occur on Monday in the mountainous mainland, locally and in the semi-mountainous areas of central and northern Greece, which will be occasionally dense, mainly in western Macedonia. Snowfall will continue on Tuesday but will have reduced intensity mainly from midday onwards.
