The trial of the appeal court for the death of the 28-year-old Bulgarian Tosko Bozadzhiyski, who was the victim of a fan incident five years ago near the Thessaloniki Concert Hall, has been completed.
The fan had travelled to Thessaloniki to watch the match between Aris and PAOK, and had been swept away by a private car and succumbed to his injuries.
After a month-long hearing, the Mixed Jury Court of Appeal of Thessaloniki found all eight defendants guilty, imposing prison sentences ranging from 1.5 to 4 years—lower than those handed down by the first-instance court. The court also ordered two of the defendants to serve the remainder of their sentences in prison.
Among them, the 31-year-old driver of the car received a four-year sentence for manslaughter by conscious negligence, following a charge reduction from the felony of manslaughter with possible malice aforethought. Her 53-year-old former partner was sentenced for misdemeanors, including assault and disturbing the peace.
As for the other six defendants, the Court of Appeal suspended their sentences.Five were found guilty of melee and disturbing the peace, while the sixth was convicted of complicity in these offenses. All of them were granted mitigating circumstances for prior good conduct and subsequent good behaviour.
