Earthquake activity near Santorini and Amorgos has decreased, but concerns remain about the impact on tourism, with some trip cancellations already reported.

The National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (EKPA) said tremors continued Friday, but their intensity was lower. Most were below magnitude 4.0, compared to earlier in the week when over 90 quakes were recorded in a single day, including 18 over 4.0 and five above 4.5.

Since Jan. 26, over 8,900 tremors have been detected.

Despite the decrease, the uncertainty is affecting tourism. Travel agencies in Thessaloniki report cancellations for Santorini trips, mainly for the current season, not the summer.

The cruise ship Viking Star canceled its Feb. 10 Santorini stop, rerouting to Chania. A second visit on Feb. 15 remains uncertain.

Ten cruises are scheduled to dock in Santorini in March, but their status depends on the situation in the coming weeks.
