In his weekly review, Mr. Mitsotakis outlined significant achievements and announced forward-looking initiatives aimed at enhancing Greece’s economy and societal well-being.
Highlighting economic progress, Mr. Mitsotakis emphasized that Greece’s steady growth is enabling expanded social support measures. Among these is the complete exemption from pharmaceutical expenses for an additional 132,000 low-income pensioners.
He also announced a new €100 monthly hazard allowance for 153,000 members of the Armed Forces and Security Services, starting July 1, 2025.
To further support individuals and businesses, Mr. Mitsotakis revealed ten new measures to reduce banking fees and promote competition.
These efforts are designed to lower costs for both private citizens and small to medium-sized enterprises. Additionally, he highlighted the overwhelming response to the “Digital Tools” program, with 80,000 applications already submitted by SMEs, notaries, and judicial officers.
On the broader economic front, Mr. Mitsotakis celebrated Greece’s position as one of the top five nations in Europe for utilizing funds from the Recovery and Resilience Facility.
The country has completed 135 reforms and investment milestones, securing over €18 billion in funding. He also pointed to data from Eurostat showing that Greece recorded the second-lowest food inflation rate among EU member states in November.
Concluding his address, Mr. Mitsotakis announced the launch of a comprehensive plan to combat digital addiction among minors.
The initiative, set to be unveiled at a special event on December 30, calls on parents, educators, and political leaders to collaborate in protecting children from the dangers of excessive digital use.
