One year after Storm Daniel ravaged Thessaly, Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis is revisiting the region today to review the progress of reconstruction efforts and reaffirm his government's commitment to the area's recovery.
The visit comes at a crucial time, as the government seeks to address local concerns and demonstrate its dedication to fulfilling its promises.
Despite ongoing challenges and lingering dissatisfaction among residents, Mitsotakis aims to showcase tangible results, such as the newly completed health centers in Palamas and Mouzaki.
The Prime Minister's itinerary includes meetings with local authorities and citizens, discussions about relocating flood-prone villages, and a keynote speech outlining the strategic plan for Thessaly's reconstruction. This plan focuses on crucial anti-flood measures, including water management infrastructure, dams, and irrigation systems.
With significant funding allocated for the reconstruction, the government is keen to highlight its progress and secure additional support from the European Union. The visit serves as a reminder of the ongoing commitment to healing the wounds left by Storm Daniel and building a more resilient future for Thessaly.
