PM Mitsotakis highlights government's measures on fan violence in meeting with UEFA President Ceferin

Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis met with UEFA President Aleksander Ceferin, CAF President Patrice Motsepe, ECA President Nasser Al-Khelaifi and UEFA General Secretary Theodoros Theodoridis, who are in Athens for the 31st General Assembly of the European Club Association (ECA).

Mitsotakis presented the measures Greece has implemented for the effective prevention and handling of fan violence. He specifically mentioned digital identification of ticket holders, systematic monitoring of stadium zones with cameras, and the automatic imposition of specific penalties in case of violations.

According to information from the Prime Minister's Press Office, it was emphasized that fan behavior is now comparable to that of major European stadiums, while the quality of Greek championships and the level of competition have significantly improved. Aleksander Ceferin congratulated Greece on the progress it has achieved. Additionally, they discussed practices for nurturing and promoting new athletes, as well as possibilities for collaboration with African clubs in this field.

All participants expressed their condolences for recent losses in the football community. The meeting was also attended by Foreign Minister George Gerapetritis and Deputy Sports Minister Yiannis Vroutsis.
