Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis, in an interview at the conclusion of the Thessaloniki Summit 2025, organised by the Federation of Industries of Greece (SVE) and the Delphi Economic Forum, stressed that Europe must wake up from its geopolitical and economic lethargy.
"I have spoken many times about the need for Europe to wake up from the geopolitical and economic lethargy in which, unfortunately, it has been in for some time. And, unfortunately, recent developments and this different view of things from the United States oblige us not only to look the truth in the face but also to move with a very high speed and to implement decisions that we have been discussing for a long time," Mitsotakis said.
Mitsotakis arrived at the Thessaloniki Summit shortly after the conclusion of the European Leaders for Ukraine summit convened by French President Emmanuel Macron, which he participated in via teleconference.
He said that the forthcoming European Council will be one of the most crucial, "because there we will be called upon to ratify, to formulate decisions that will allow us, at last, to face up to these challenges and not have the European Union be a bystander."
