Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis, speaking at the "Prix Galien Greece 2025" awards ceremony at the Athens Concert Hall, announced an initiative that aims to facilitate the repatriation of Greek doctors from the US to support the National Health System.
"We will bring an important initiative for a vote next week in Parliament. This is none other than the automatic recognition of specialty and consequently of specialization to doctors who have acquired it in the United States, provided, of course, that it is in force, corresponding to positions that exist in Greece," Mitsotakis said.
Mitsotakis mentioned that the "Prix Galien Greece 2025" awards are a celebration that honors the Greek and international pharmaceutical industry and especially the pioneers in the development of innovative treatments in public health. He said it is a sector in which Greece aspires to become a dynamic hub in our wider region. "Let's not forget that 45 of Europe's 400 pharmaceutical factories are hosted here; we produce almost 10% of its total formulations. And at the national level, this indicates that the needs of Greek patients are satisfied by over 60%, while also addressing the demand in the markets of other member states," Mitsotakis noted.
