Tolls on the Maliakos-Kleidi motorway will be reduced by up to 3 euros for passenger vehicles, starting October 1, 2024 and continuing until December 31, 2025. This reduction follows the Greek government’s refinancing of the project resulting in 15.8 million euros in savings for the public.
Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis announced the toll decrease from Kileler, highlighting it as a symbolic move demonstrating the government's commitment to financial benefits for the public. “This reduction showcases how the government views reciprocation. The refinancing of the Malakasa-Kleidion concession contract has resulted in approximately 16 million euros in savings for Greece,” Mitsotakis stated.
Minister of Infrastructure and Transport Christos Staikouras added, “As we publicly committed to the Greek Parliament, for the first time, the benefit secured from refinancing the Aegean Motorway project is being returned to Greek society through significant and broad reductions in toll costs for both private and commercial users.”
The reductions will apply to all vehicle categories, with specifics as follows:
17% discount for light vehicles across all tolls.
5% discount for heavy vehicles using an electronic toll tag.
The program will affect toll stations at Pelasgia, Moschochori, Makrychori, Leptokarya and Kleidi as well as 17 additional side tolls in the region.Specifically, the benefits for passenger vehicle users are:2.80 euros for 2024, reducing the toll from 16.50 euros to 13.70 euros at the five main stations.3.00 euros for 2025, lowering the toll from 17.40 euros to 14.40 euros. For heavy vehicles the 5% discount for those with an electronic toll tag is added to the existing 7% discount provided by the concessionaire.
