Authorities have arrested a 38 year old man on charges of leading one of the country’s most notorious terror organizations, “Revenge Partnership.”
Details of the suspect were not released. Instead, counter-terrorism officials identified the man by his initials A. F saying he was arrested during a raid late Monday in the port city of Patras.
During the raid, authorities confiscated a rash of electronic devices, which upon forensic review found incriminating evidence for the man’s leading role in the Revenge Partnership. It was found that he was implicated in at least five terror activities in the last year alone.
Revenge Partnership emerged from obscurity in 2023 to claim responsibility for a grenade attack and explosion in Larissa in June 2023. Since then, the group has largely targetted police and judicial officials, sending most recently an explosives-packed envelope to the Thessaloniki Courthouse, in northern Greece.
The arrest of A.F. marks Greece’s latest attempt to crack down on domestic terrorism. highlighting continuous efforts by authorities, as they say, to dismantle groups posing threats to national security.
The case remains under active investigation. Authorities say they expect to uncover A.F’s connection to more hits.
