Greek telecommunications giant OTE Group is accelerating its shift to electric vehicles, aiming to have over 90% of its fleet powered by electricity by 2028.
The ambitious move is part of the company's commitment to sustainability and reducing its carbon footprint.
By early 2025, 828 new electric vehicles will join the COSMOTE Technical Services fleet, representing a significant step towards this goal. OTE Group is also investing in a nationwide charging infrastructure and providing driver training to support the transition.
This initiative is expected to slash CO2 emissions by 2,400 tons annually – equivalent to the electricity consumption of 1,500 households. OTE Group's Chief Financial Officer, Babis Mazarakis, hailed the move as a major milestone in the company's journey towards a greener future.
The shift to electric vehicles aligns with the sustainability strategy of OTE Group's parent company, Deutsche Telekom, underscoring a global commitment to environmentally responsible practices.
The initiative sets a strong example for other businesses in Greece and beyond, demonstrating the feasibility and benefits of transitioning to a more sustainable transportation model.
