Socialist Pasok leader Nikos Androulakis visited the Makryonitis Distillery in Syros on Sunday, highlighting the importance of connecting tourism with the primary sector and local manufacturing.
"We need to emphasise local processed products so that the thousands of travelers who come to our country every year, especially to the Cyclades islands, can taste and purchase them back home,” he said.
“This approach benefits the overall economy, creating good jobs and fostering growth," he added.
Mr. Androulakis also pointed out the strain that overtourism places on infrastructure, healthcare, and other sectors of local island communities.

Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis will speak today at the signing ceremony of the "Athenian Riviera Urban Walk" projett, set to transform the coastal area into a vibrant destination.
