In response to a rise in violence among minors, the Ministry of Citizen Protection and the Hellenic Police have launched "SAFE.YOUth," a new app aimed at preventing and addressing youth violence.

Developed with support from the Vodafone Foundation, the app provides information, resources, and direct access to police assistance for young people facing violence or abuse.

SAFE.YOUth offers tailored content for three age groups (12-15, 15-18, and 18+), covering sensitive topics like sexual abuse, juvenile delinquency, equality, and racism.

Crucially, users can report child protection concerns, anonymously or with identification, and connect with trained police personnel through a dedicated 24-hour hotline ("10201") or the emergency line ("100").

A key feature is the "Emergency Button," which allows registered minors to alert police to immediate threats using geolocation. This ensures rapid response in critical situations.

The app launch, hosted by television presenter Danae Barka, included insights from middle and high school students who contributed to the app's design. They highlighted factors like family problems, social media influence, and exposure to violent role models as contributing to youth violence.

Citizen Protection Minister Michalis Chrysochoidis stressed the government's commitment to tackling this pressing social issue.

He thanked contributing government ministers and Vodafone CEO Haris Broumidis, emphasizing the collaborative effort behind the app's creation. SAFE.YOUth represents a significant step in utilizing digital tools to protect young people and address their needs in the modern age.
