A nationwide poll conducted by Metron Analysis for Mega highlights the political landscape in Greece, with New Democracy (ND) holding a commanding lead over Pasok and a notable rise in support for smaller parties.
Despite signs of stagnation for the major opposition party Pasok, the survey reflects a dynamic political environment as Greece moves further into 2025.
According to the poll, ND remains the dominant political force, polling at 29.1%, just shy of the 30% mark, and maintaining an 11.7-point lead over Pasok, which registers at 17.4%.
The results show no significant change in the support for Pasok, which remains stable compared to previous measurements.
Among the smaller parties, the Greek Solution (Elliniki Lysi) has seen an increase to 9.8% from 8.7%, while Syriza has risen to 8.1% from 7.4%, reflecting growing momentum under the leadership of Sokratis Famellos.
Another significant gainer is the Voice of Logic, which has jumped to 7.1% from 5.3%, potentially influenced by international political developments.
The survey also indicates a shift in voter intention, with ND falling to 22.9% in terms of direct voting preference, down from 24.2% in December, and Pasok dropping to 13.7% from 14.4%. Meanwhile, the undecided vote remains substantial, at 8.6%.
Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis continues to be seen as the most suitable leader for the country, with 28% of respondents selecting him for the role. However, the largest proportion of participants (33%) expressed no preference for any of the available candidates, highlighting dissatisfaction across the political spectrum. Behind Mitsotakis, Pasok leader Nikos Androulakis received 7%, followed by Greek Solution leader Kyriakos Velopoulos at 6%.
Smaller parties continue to shape Greece's political future. The Communist Party (KKE) stands at 8.5%, the Freedom Sailing (Plefsi Eleftherias) at 4.5%, and MeRA25 at 3.3%. The Voice of Logic has surged significantly, while newer entrants such as the Democracy Movement and Nikos Kasselakis’ party also make their mark. The data points toward a potential nine-party parliament.
This poll underlines the resilience of ND as the leading political force, yet also reflects the challenges it faces, including a slight decline in support and growing competition from smaller parties. Pasok, despite its position as the main opposition party, struggles to capitalize on dissatisfaction with the government. Meanwhile, the emergence of smaller parties signals shifting allegiances and an increasingly fragmented electorate.
The findings point to a complex and fluid political environment in Greece, with the upcoming period likely to bring further changes and challenges for all parties involved.
