New Democracy (ND) continues to dominate Greece’s political scene, retaining a significant lead in voter intentions according to the latest Metron Analysis poll.
The survey highlights the evolving landscape following Mr. Sokratis Famellos’ election as Syriza leader and the launch of Mr. Stefanos Kasselakis’ Movement for Democracy party, which has begun to make its presence felt.
In the poll, ND secured 22.6% of voter support, maintaining a commanding lead over Pasok, which garnered 15.1%. The Communist Party (KKE) closely followed at 8%, with nationalist Greek Solution slightly ahead at 8.1%.
Syriza, under Mr. Famellos, showed signs of regaining stability, climbing to 5.6%. Notably, Mr. Kasselakis’ newly formed party achieved 1.8%, reflecting its early influence.
Comparing voter intentions before and after Mr. Famellos assumed leadership of Syriza, ND saw a modest decline from 28.6% to 27.3%, while Pasok rose slightly to 19.1%. Syriza’s support improved to 8.1%, up from 6.7%.
The Movement for Democracy gained traction, polling at 4.2%—sufficient to secure parliamentary representation if elections were held today.
The findings underscore Pasok's growing strength as the main opposition party, bolstered by its steady rise in support.
Meanwhile, Syriza’s recovery under Mr. Famellos suggests the party may retain relevance amid fierce competition.
The poll also assessed public sentiment toward political leadership, with Mr. Kyriakos Mitsotakis remaining the preferred choice for prime minister at 28%. Pasok leader Mr. Nikos Androulakis followed at 9%, with Mr. Kyriakos Velopoulos of Greek Solution at 7%, and Mr. Famellos at 4%.
The survey also highlighted dissatisfaction with the government, as 65% rated its performance negatively, though this represents a slight improvement compared to previous polls.
As Greece’s political dynamics continue to shift, these findings reflect both stability in ND’s leadership and the potential for significant realignments as parties vie for voter trust and representation in Parliament.
