Greece’s ruling New Democracy (ND) party maintains a strong lead over Syriza, according to the latest survey conducted by Metron Analysis following the European elections.
Despite a slight decline from its ratings earlier this year, ND stands at 30.4 percent, up from the 28.3 percent it secured in the European elections.
In contrast, the leftist main opposition Syriza party is seeing its fortunes fade, dropping from 14.9 percent in the European elections to 13.8 percent in the latest survey. The socialist Pasok party remains stable, having secured 12.8% in the European elections and currently gathering 12.9 percent.
Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis remains the preferred candidate, with public opinion showing more dissatisfaction with the official opposition and Syriza than with the government.
The detailed Metron survey results, presented on Mega TV, show that ND holds a support bae of 30.4 percent, down from 35.2 percent in January. Syriza stands at 13.8 percent, up from 12.1 percent, while PASOK maintains 12.9 percent, compared to 13.7 percent. Other parties include the Communist Party (KKE) at 9.9 percent, Greek Solution (Elliniki Lysi) at 9.2 percent, and Movement for Change (Plefsi) at 5.7 percent.
In terms of voting intention, ND is at 24.4 percent, down from 28.2 percent in January, while Syriza stands at 11.1 percent, up from 9.7 percent. Pasok remains third with 10.3 percent, compared to 11 percent.. New Democracy outperforms Syriza in all aspects of government and opposition evaluation.
The government enjoys a 27 percent positive rating, while Syriza is seen to collect 12 percent.
Dimitris Koutsoumpas, the General Secretary of the Communist Party (KKE), leads in popularity among political leaders with 42 percent positive opinions, surpassing Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis, rated at 40 percent.. Zoe Konstantopoulou ranks third with 39 percent, followed by Nikos Androulakis at 30 percent and Stefanos Kasselakis at 27 percent.
