Evangelos Mytilineos, the head of Metlen, has voiced his concerns about China's upcoming antimony export restrictions, urging the European Commission to take decisive action.

In a LinkedIn post, he highlighted the significance of the Critical Raw Materials Act implemented by the EU in May 2024, aimed at securing a sustainable supply of vital resources.

He criticized the Commission, however, for not yet providing concrete measures to support European industry in becoming a key player in the supply chain for these materials.

Mr. Mytilineos also lamented the lack of risk-mitigation tools and incentives akin to the US Inflation Reduction Act.

With the new Commission in place, he stressed the urgent need for immediate and substantial action, emphasizing that further consultations were not an option in light of China's escalating export controls.
