The mother of Vasilis Kalogiros, a 39-year-old man whose death has sparked allegations of criminal activity, testified before the Larisa prosecutor on Tuesday.
The testimony is part of an urgent preliminary investigation ordered by the Supreme Court prosecutor. The mother had previously raised suspicions of foul play in her son’s death, describing it as a kidnapping and murder.
While the family was submitting their testimony, their legal representatives issued a statement alleging that Mr. Kalogiros was abducted in Larisa on December 30, 2024, and later murdered. The crime is estimated to have occurred in the first five days of January 2025.
“We have been entrusted with representing members of the family of the late Vasileios Kalogiros and supporting the prosecution against all those responsible for his abduction in Larisa and subsequent murder.
Today, we submitted a statement supporting the charges on behalf of his father. Our goal is to assist the Justice system in investigating and ultimately adjudicating the circumstances and perpetrators of his murder,” the legal team stated.
The statement emphasized that the case file remains confidential and is continuously being updated as the investigation progresses.
The legal team urged media professionals and the public to refrain from making judgments or drawing conclusions about Mr. Kalogiros’s personal characteristics, as these are unrelated to the criminal acts under investigation.
