Recent polls show that New Democracy (ND) is polling below 30%, similar to its results in the June elections.
One poll by Opinion Poll for ACTION 24 shows ND at 27.1%, while another by MRB for OPEN TV places it at 27.7%.
Despite leading the opposition parties, with PASOK at around 13% and SYRIZA at about 10.5%, the government is concerned. Officials worry that if these numbers don't improve, it could hurt ND's chances of winning a majority in the 2027 elections.
To change this, Mr. Mitsotakis is expected to announce measures at TIF that will help ease the financial pressure on households, raise wages, and support the most vulnerable people. The government has hinted that these measures will include steps to tackle inflation and address important issues like healthcare, housing, and family support.
While acknowledging the challenges, the government insists that these new measures will be carried out responsibly, without disrupting the country's progress.
As government spokesperson Pavlos Marinakis said, the Prime Minister has always been realistic about what can be achieved, and he's committed to doing more within the available resources.
Mr. Mitsotakis' speech will also outline his broader vision for the next three years, up to the 2027 elections.
He will set specific goals for his government and highlight the progress made so far in strengthening Greece's economy and international standing, and how this progress is improving the daily lives of Greek citizens.
