Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis visited the Labour and Social Security Ministry on Thursday.
The discussion focused on labour and insurance issues, such as the increase of the minimum wage, the reduction of insurance contributions, while particular emphasis was placed on the tourism sector.
In his statements, the prime minister noted that the government attaches importance to social dialogue, with a view to finding optimal solutions for both businesses and workers.
As he said, important work has been done at the Labour Ministry over the last five years, which is reflected in the reduction of unemployment, the creation of hundreds of thousands of new jobs, but also in the improvement of the working environment, always having as the first goal the protection of the rights of workers.
Mitsotakis also focused on the reform of the Digital Work Card. "It is the government's commitment that the Digital Labor Card be implemented in all sectors of the economy. The benefits in terms of recording the actual overtime work for the benefit of the employees are already noticeable," he said.
Regarding the issue of the minimum wage, the prime minister emphasized that the government remains committed to the target for increasing the minimum wage to 950 euros at the end of the four-year period.
The Greek premier also referred to the need to improve the participation in the labour market, primarily of women, young people, people with disabilities, but also retirees.
