Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis led a one-hour meeting to discuss the ongoing response to the wildfires that have severely impacted northeastern Attica.
The meeting, held at the Ministry of Climate Crisis and Civil Protection, focused on assessing the damage and planning support measures for affected areas.
During the meeting, officials provided an initial assessment of the damage.
Less than 10% of the burned areas were forested, and fewer than 100 buildings sustained damage, most of which were not residential.
Talks also focused on the restoration of affected areas, focusing on state aid for victims, support for affected municipalities, and compensation for agricultural and livestock losses, which will begin immediately.
Special attention was given to the successful evacuations carried out and the condition of medical facilities that were evacuated.
The facilities are expected to resume operations within the next few days.
