Dimitris Papadimitriou, a 78-year-old Greek retiree who had been missing since September 5, was found in Constantinople and safely reunited with his family.
The elderly man had disappeared after losing his way in the city, sparking days of uncertainty.
Greek Consul General in Istanbul, Ambassador Konstantinos Koutras, announced the reunion, calling it "a day of great joy." Greek consulate officials worked closely with Turkish police, reviewing security camera footage to trace Mr. Papadimitriou’s movements.
The breakthrough came when a taxi driver recognized him and took him to a nearby café, where staff contacted the Greek consulate. Mr. Papadimitriou was then reunited with his worried family, including his son and granddaughter.
Ambassador Koutras thanked everyone involved, noting the concern shown by the family and many people from Greece who had been anxiously awaiting news.
