The body of a 65-year-old Dutch tourist who had been missing on the eastern Aegean island of Samos since August 22nd was located in a remote area of the island.

A member of a Dutch rescue team, searching alone and without the aid of a search dog, discovered the woman's body.

The individual was reportedly alerted to the site by the strong odor of decomposition.

The discovery was made in an area opposite to where the woman's cell phone had been located, and away from the primary focus of search efforts.

The body was found after seven days of extensive searches conducted by a special fire brigade unit utilizing drones, a local alpine rescue team, and a Dutch team equipped with eight sniffer dogs.

This summer holiday season in Greece has seen an alarmingly high number of missing tourists and heat-related deaths, particularly in remote island regions.

The most notable case involved BBC host Michael Mosley, whose body was found in a rugged area on the island of Symi after he strayed from a hiking trail.
