The Ministry of the Interior in Greece has announced a €11.25 million funding initiative to address water scarcity issues nationwide.
The financial support, provided through the Sectoral Development Program, will enable municipalities, municipal enterprises, and water supply and sewerage associations (DEYAs) to implement urgent actions to improve water management and drinking water supply infrastructure.
The funding invitation, signed by Minister Theodoros Livanios, focuses on projects such as drilling new or upgrading existing water supply boreholes and providing desalinated water services through the rental of desalination systems.
Each eligible entity can submit one proposal, with a maximum funding limit of €150,000.
Municipalities in the Ionian Islands, South Aegean, and North Aegean regions are excluded from this invitation, as they will receive funding through a separate initiative by the Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Insular Policy.
