The Meteora Natural History Museum and Mushroom Museum has been awarded the prestigious gold prize at this year’s Tourism Awards for successfully organising the first Panhellenic Truffle Festival.
The event, which took place between June 8 to 11, drew thousands of visitors to the region, offering free mushroom and truffle delicacies, cultural events, and educational seminars.
The Tourism Awards, Greece’s premier tourism award ceremony, annually awards outstanding business ventures in the field of tourism.
The Meteora Natural History Museum and Mushroom Museum was honoured for its dynamic role in promoting Kalambaka as the “City of Truffles.” Special recognition was given to renowned Greek chef Lefteris Lazarou for his decisive role in helping planning the festival
As preparations for this year’s festival are already underway, the Museum promises an array of exciting events for an upcoming celebration in October, further promoting Meteora’sg growing reputation as a culinary and cultural destination.
