The European Union must prepare even faster to support the competitiveness of its economy in order to maintain its progress and face geopolitical challenges, Deputy Minister to the Prime Minister Thanassis Kontogeorgis said on Saturday in an interview with mononews.
"At the same time it should move quickly to further strengthen its autonomy in sectors such as defense and foreign policy, energy, economy, technology and institutions," he added.
Regarding the US-Greek relations, he underlined that they "have strengthened and gained strategic depth and that is why we believe that it will continue undisturbed in regional and global issues. An important element of this new chapter is the fact that the international position of our country has been continuously strengthened since 2019, having won the position of a respected interlocutor both within the EU and other stronger economies."
On the meeting between Greek Foreign Minister George Gerapetritis and his Turkish counterpart Hakan Fidan, he stated that "the main common goals that emerged from the meeting of the two Foreign Ministers are the resolution of critical issues and the de-escalation of tension in order to prevent dangerous crises. "That is why we organize meetings in 3 pillars, ie political dialogue, positive agenda and Confidence Building Measures. The next round of political dialogue will take place in Athens in early December," he added.
