Investigative journalist Thanos Dimadis has levelled serious allegations against Stefanos Kasselakis, accusing him of falsifying details in his wealth declaration.
Mr. Dimadis, who operates out of the United States, has brought to light documents that purportedly contradict Mr. Kasselakis’ claims about a property in New York.
In a detailed post, Mr. Dimadis asserts that Mr. Kasselakis misrepresented himself as the owner of a New York house, which he claimed to have purchased for $2.25 million in 2022. He identified OSIOS LLC in Delaware as the only offshore company in which he holds a stake.
Mr. Dimadis’ investigation into American public records, however, paints a different picture.
He alleges that Mr. Kasselakis secured a $1.62 million loan from Cross Country Mortgage for the New York property purchase, rather than using personal funds as implied.
In a subsequent revelation, on March 24, 2023, Mr. Kasselakis is said to have transferred the property to Whimsy Woods LLC, a company based in Delaware, thereby negating his previous claims of personal ownership.
The plot thickens as Mr. Dimadis discloses that the address listed for Whimsy Woods LLC is identical to the Miami residence address provided by Mr. Kasselakis. This connection suggests that Mr. Kasselakis has a stake in Whimsy Woods LLC, which was not disclosed in the Excel document he presented for the year 2023.
In a further twist, Mr. Dimadis’ research indicates that Whimsy Woods LLC has outstanding tax liabilities in Delaware.
The documents, which are publicly accessible in the U.S., stand in stark contrast to the opacity Mr. Kasselakis is accused of fostering in Greece.
The allegations, if proven true, could have significant implications for Mr. Kasselakis’ political career and the broader political climate in Greece.
