According to an announcement by the Ministry of Environment and Energy, a subsidy of 1.5 cents per kilowatt-hour has been fixed in electricity tariffs for January. This has resulted in the final consumer price being around 14 cents.
In particular, the subsidies on household tariffs, without income criteria and irrespective of the provider, are as follows:
- For monthly consumption up to 500 kWh, the aid is set at 15 Euro/MWh or 1.5 cents/kWh. This category covers 90% of households in Greece.
- For households included in the Social Household Tariff, the aid amounts to 35 Euro/MWh or 3.5 cents/kWh for the total consumption.
The total cost of the aid for January amounts to €20.9 million.
