Italian energy giant Italgas has unveiled a major investment plan for Greece, pledging to pump €1 billion into the country's energy infrastructure by 2030.
The ambitious project, spearheaded by Italgas's Greek subsidiary Enaon, aims to modernize Greece's energy grid and accelerate its transition to a more sustainable energy model.
The centerpiece of the plan is the construction of over 3,000 kilometers of new natural gas pipelines, extending the network to 18 additional cities across Greece.
The expansion will bring modern energy services to new regions and is expected to significantly increase Enaon's customer base from 615,000 to 920,000 by the end of the decade.
Italgas CEO Paolo Gallo presented the strategic plan in Athens, emphasizing the company's long-term commitment to Greece and its energy transition.
He highlighted the importance of this investment for Greece's economic growth and its efforts to meet ambitious environmental targets.
The bulk of the investment, €650 million, will be dedicated to building the new pipeline network. This will help reduce reliance on outdated energy systems and promote a greener economy.
