The International Monetary Fund (IMF) is "added on to the long list of international organizations that underline the significant progress of the Greek economy," Deputy Premier Kostis Hatzidakis said in a media post on Monday.
The former finance minister was commenting on the IMF report concluding the Article IV consultation with Greece on March 31, 2025, in which it said that "Greece's near-term economic outlook remains favorable, with real GDP sustaining its robust expansion. Real GDP growth is projected to remain high at 2.1% in 2025."
"This recognition has added value: on one hand, it comes in a global environment of turmoil, and on the other nobody forgets how strict of a judge the IMF was on Greece in all the past decades, particularly during the economic crisis," said Hatzidakis.
Nobody can claim that the government has resolved all issues, he noted, but it is committed to remaining on the same path, that of a healthy policy on fiscal issues and the promotion of all necessary reforms.
