A recent survey of Halkidiki business owners has revealed widespread dissatisfaction with the 2024 tourist season.
According to the Halkidiki Economic Barometer, conducted for the region’s Chamber of Commerce, 65 percent of respondents reported being "somewhat" to "not at all satisfied" with the season's performance so far.
The finding comes amidst concerns about staffing shortages, with nearly 70 percent of businesses reporting difficulties finding staff. Additionally, the ongoing construction of the Thessaloniki flyover has been cited as a factor impacting travel to the region, according to 69 percent of respondents.
The survey, which included 355 businesses, also revealed a decrease in optimism among business owners compared to earlier in the year.
While the overall economic index for Halkidiki businesses rose slightly compared to last year, it fell from 5.8 points in the previous survey conducted in April-May to 4.1 points in the most recent survey.
