Greek police have struck a major blow against the Turkish mafia operating in the country, arresting eight people and detaining 30 others in raids across Athens, Nikaia, and Thessaloniki.
The operation, which focused on seizing illegal weapons and drugs, uncovered a significant cache of firearms.
Among the seized items were 50 pistols, many equipped for silencers, along with 1.7 kilograms of cannabis and ammunition. Police also confiscated a collection of luxury watches believed to be connected to the criminal network.
The arrests were made in Athens and Nikaia, where eight Turkish nationals were charged with weapons and drug offenses.
In addition to the arrests, police detained 27 people, mostly Turkish citizens, during checks at businesses in Attica.
These individuals are being questioned about their potential involvement in the mafia's activities. Searches in Thessaloniki resulted in the seizure of electronic devices, but no arrests were made in that city.
The eight men arrested in Athens and Nikaia will appear in court today to face charges.
