A Greek court sentenced Roula Pispirigou to two consecutive life terms Tuesday, after finding her guilty of murdering her two youngest children.
The court ruled unanimously that Pispirigou, 36, was responsible for the deaths of her 3.5-year-old daughter Malena in 2019 and her six-month-old daughter Iris in 2021. She is already serving a life sentence for the murder of her eldest daughter, Georgina.
The court accepted findings that both Malena and Iris died from asphyxiation.
Pispirigou showed no emotion as the verdict was read. Her ex-husband, the children’s father, was present in the courtroom.
The prosecutor described Pispirigou as egocentric, accusing her of killing her children to save her marriage. The case has caused widespread outrage in Greece.
