Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis has highlighted five key points from the draft of the 2025 budget, which was submitted to Parliament yesterday.

In a post on Instagram, Mr. Mitsotakis emphasized the critical aspects of the budget that he believes all citizens should be aware of, focusing on wages, taxes, debt reduction, and the broader economic outlook.

The Prime Minister began by stressing that the budget will have a positive impact on personal finances, as it includes 12 wage increases and 12 tax reductions.

"This steadily narrows the gap between Greek and European incomes," he said, reflecting the government's commitment to improving the financial wellbeing of Greek citizens.

Moving on to public debt management, Mr. Mitsotakis highlighted that the budget significantly reduces the national debt by nearly 5 percentage points of GDP.

This, he explained, not only strengthens the country’s credibility on the international stage but also reduces the financial burden on future generations, ensuring more sustainable fiscal management.

The Prime Minister also pointed out how the budget will bolster the economy's resilience. He stated that the measures aim to increase exports while reducing dependence on imports, making the Greek economy more self-reliant and less vulnerable to external shocks.

Another significant aspect of the 2025 budget, according to Mr. Mitsotakis, is the closing of the investment gap left by the financial crisis.

He noted that public investments in critical sectors such as healthcare, education, security, and civil protection have more than doubled since 2019, highlighting the government’s focus on rebuilding and strengthening essential public services.

Finally, Mr. Mitsotakis emphasized that these initiatives are being implemented within a framework of fiscal stability and responsibility.

He pointed out that, while many other strong economies within the European Union are facing recessions or excessive deficits, Greece remains committed to maintaining balanced finances.
