A Greek frigate, the Psara, has successfully defended a commercial ship from a drone attack in the Gulf of Aden.
The incident occurred on Sunday during the European Union's Operation Aspides, aimed at protecting shipping in the Red Sea.
The Psara, equipped with a domestically designed anti drone system, intercepted and neutralized multiple unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs). At least one drone was shot down, while the others were forced to retreat.
This is the second successful defence by the Psara in recent weeks. Last week, the frigate repelled another drone attack, downing two UAVs and driving away the others.
The Psara, which was equipped with the anti drone system shortly before its deployment, continues its mission in the region as planned.
