Greek Foreign Minister George Gerapetritis met with leaders of Arab diplomatic missions in Athens to discuss escalating tensions in the Middle East and reaffirm Greece’s commitment to fostering regional peace.
The talks, held against the backdrop of the ongoing humanitarian crisis in Gaza and growing regional instability, emphasized Greece’s historical ties with the Arab world and its active role in promoting stability.
During the meeting, Mr. Gerapetritis addressed critical issues, including the urgent need for a ceasefire in Gaza, the spillover of hostilities into Lebanon and the Red Sea, and the broader humanitarian concerns gripping the region.
According to a statement from the Greek Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Gerapetritis pledged Greece’s support for peace efforts through regional organizations and as a member of the United Nations Security Council for the 2025–2026 term.
Highlighting Greece’s longstanding solidarity with Arab nations, Mr. Gerapetritis reiterated the country's dedication to facilitating dialogue and collaboration aimed at achieving lasting peace in the Middle East.
