Scammers have created a fake Facebook account using the name of Greek Culture Minister Lina Mendoni, prompting official action from the government.
The Ministry of Culture said it became aware of the fraudulent account and has reported the incident to the Cyber Crime Division.
“The Minister of Culture, Lina Mendoni, does not maintain a personal account on any social media platform,” the ministry said in an official statement. “Therefore, any Facebook profile bearing the name ‘Lina Mendoni’ does not represent the Minister. The Cyber Crime Division has already taken up the case.”
Authorities are reminding the public to remain vigilant online and to report suspicious activity involving impersonation or fraud on social media.
