A planned increase in Greece's minimum wage, effective April 1, will automatically raise 19 benefits and allowances, impacting over 1 million recipients.
The exact amount of the wage hike is pending, with a government announcement expected after a late March cabinet meeting. The current minimum wage is €830.
The increase will directly affect approximately 600,000 private-sector workers, newly hired public servants, and those earning near the minimum wage.
Over 1 million benefit recipients will also see increases. For example, a 5% wage increase would raise the standard unemployment benefit from €510 to €535.
Affected benefits include maternity benefits, parental leave allowance, unemployment benefits, seasonal worker benefits, apprenticeship compensation, and public welfare programs.
The increase aims to support vulnerable groups amid rising living costs. The new minimum wage will be confirmed after the cabinet's decision.
