Greece hosted NATO’s Ramstein Flag 2024 exercise, a major multinational military drill, for the first time. The event, which concluded on Friday, showcased Greece's growing role within the NATO alliance and its commitment to collective defense.

Greek Defense Minister Nikos Dendias delivered a speech at Andravida Air Base, where the exercise took place. He emphasized the significance of the event and highlighted Greece's strategic importance within NATO. Dendias also announced plans for the upcoming delivery of US-made F-35 fighter jets and an anti-aircraft and anti-drone defense system, further bolstering the country's military capabilities.

The Ramstein Flag exercise involved a large-scale deployment of military aircraft from 13 NATO member states. A total of 89 fighter jets and 12 support aircraft participated in the drills, making it one of the largest military exercises of its kind in Europe.

Minister Dendias took to social media to share his excitement about the event. He posted a photo of himself with Greece's military leadership in front of a Rafale fighter jet and an F-35, symbolizing the country's evolving military capabilities.

The successful hosting of the Ramstein Flag exercise underscores Greece's growing role as a key player in NATO and its commitment to strengthening European security.
