Greek Foreign Minister Giorgos Gerapetritis concluded a series of high-level meetings in Washington this week, aimed at bolstering the strategic partnership between Greece and the United States.
Mr. Gerapetritis engaged with influential lawmakers from both parties, highlighting Greece's growing importance as a regional partner and investment destination.
On Wednesday, Mr. Gerapetritis met with key figures on the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, including Chairman Jim Risch and Senator Jeanne Shaheen. He also held discussions with Congressman Brian Mast, Chairman of the House Foreign Affairs Subcommittee on Europe, and Congressman Gregory Meeks, Ranking Member of the House Foreign Affairs Committee.
The meetings focused on Greece's strategic role in the Eastern Mediterranean, particularly as an energy hub and a reliable partner for the US in Southeastern Europe and the Middle East. Mr. Gerapetritis' recent diplomatic efforts in the Middle East, including his visit to Syria, were also a key topic of discussion.
The strong bipartisan support for Greek-American relations was evident throughout the meetings, with lawmakers expressing their commitment to deepening cooperation. Mr. Gerapetritis continued his engagements on Thursday, meeting with Senators Chris Van Hollen and Cory Booker, both members of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee.
