Greece is expected to experience mild spring weather during Holy Week, with clear skies and rising temperatures giving way to scattered rain and strong winds later in the week, according to the Hellenic National Meteorological Service.

On Holy Monday, much of the country will have clear skies with some clouds.

Light rain is possible in the Ionian Islands, Epirus, and Macedonia in the morning, with a chance of renewed showers in the northwest late at night.

Visibility will be locally limited, especially in western and northern inland areas. Winds will blow from the south at 3 to 4 Beaufort, and from the north in the Aegean Sea at 4 to 5 Beaufort, reaching 6 in southeastern parts by midday.

Temperatures are expected to rise slightly, reaching 17 to 18 degrees Celsius in the north and up to 20 degrees elsewhere.

Conditions on Holy Tuesday will be similar, with clouds and localized rain over the Ionian islands and mainland regions, particularly the west, central, and northern parts of the country.

The rest of Greece will remain mostly sunny with occasional cloud cover. Visibility will again be limited in the north during the evening.

Winds in the west will shift to southeasterly at 3 to 5 Beaufort, increasing to 6 or 7 in the Ionian Sea. In the east, northern winds will prevail at 3 to 5 Beaufort.

No significant temperature change is expected.

By Holy Wednesday, more pronounced cloud cover will move into western Greece, with light rain. Elsewhere, conditions will remain mostly sunny with minor fluctuations. Meteorological conditions will favor the transport of African dust, especially in western regions.

Winds in the Ionian Sea may reach up to 8 Beaufort, while the Aegean Sea will see northern winds at up to 5 Beaufort. A slight increase in temperature is forecast.

Holy Thursday will bring more widespread cloud cover, with occasional rain in the west and isolated thunderstorms likely in the Ionian Sea by nightfall. African dust is expected to continue affecting western areas.

Easterly and southeasterly winds in the west will peak at 7 to 8 Beaufort, weakening later in the evening as they shift to southerly. In the east, winds will blow from the northeast at 3 to 5 Beaufort, increasing to 6 in the northern Aegean Sea.

Temperatures will rise slightly again.

The forecast suggests a warm and mostly dry start to the Easter period. Still, travelers and holidaymakers should be prepared for changing conditions and increased dust levels later in the week.
