Greek authorities are closely monitoring the Santorini volcano after a recent increase in seismic activity, though scientists say there is no immediate cause for concern.

A high-level meeting was convened this week to discuss preparedness and preventive measures, bringing together scientists, government officials, and emergency response agencies.

The Ministry of Climate Crisis and Civil Protection emphasized that the current activity is similar to a previous episode in 2011-2012 that lasted 14 months without leading to a volcanic eruption.

"Based on available data, scientists see no cause for immediate concern," the ministry said in a statement.

Experts are continuing to monitor and analyze data from the Santorini volcano, which is located in a seismically active region.

Authorities have emphasized their commitment to ensuring the safety of residents and visitors to the island.
