Greece is bracing for a scorching Monday, with temperatures expected to soar as high as 38 degrees Celsius (100.4 degrees Fahrenheit), according to Meteo’s forecast.
The weather service predicts a mostly sunny day with a few clouds, particularly during the warmer hours on the mainland. Local showers or thunderstorms are expected in the mountainous regions of Epirus, Macedonia, Thessaly, Central and Western Greece, and the Peloponnese.
Temperature forecasts for Monday indicate a range from 18 to 35 degrees Celsius in Northern Greece, with Western Macedonia seeing cooler temperatures between 15 and 31 degrees Celsius.
Central and Southern Greece can expect 19 to 37 degrees Celsius, with Thessaly possibly reaching up to 38 degrees. Western Greece will see temperatures between 20 and 36 degrees, the Cyclades and Crete from 17 to 34 degrees, the Eastern Aegean islands from 19 to 38 degrees, and the Dodecanese from 22 to 34 degrees.
Winds in the Aegean will be variable and weak, with the Southeastern Aegean experiencing almost moderate northwesterly winds of 4 Beaufort. The Ionian Sea will have weak to almost moderate southerly winds of 3-4 Beaufort.
The transportation of African dust to the western and southern parts of the country is favoured, making conditions difficult in various pockets of Greece.
